Convert an image format here, or choose a dedicated tool for resolution, dimensions and print calculations. Start with the change your destination actually requires.
Convert JPG, PNG and WebP
- Choose a supported static image and check the detected format and dimensions.
- Select the output format. Review quality for lossy output and the white background used when transparent pixels become JPEG.
- Run the conversion, inspect the output preview and file information, then download the converted copy. Keep your original for future edits.
Choose the right output format
JPEG is useful for photographs when compatibility and a smaller download matter. It cannot retain an alpha channel. PNG is useful for transparent graphics and crisp flat artwork, although a photograph can become much larger. WebP can combine transparency with efficient compression; use an output that your destination accepts.
A format conversion can change compression, metadata and the decoded pixel values. Converting a previously compressed JPEG to PNG does not restore information already lost. Compare small text, edges, gradients and transparent boundaries before using the result.
Format, DPI and dimensions are different tasks
Choose DPI Converter when the pixels are already correct and only the density label needs changing. Choose Image Resizer when you need a different width, height, crop or canvas. Use the six unit converters to calculate the relationship between pixels and inches, centimetres or millimetres at a stated PPI.
Print Size Calculator connects a pixel grid with a physical print target. Aspect Ratio Calculator helps you preserve proportions before resizing. The directory groups these eleven conversion and calculation tools so you can follow a single task without repeating unrelated settings.
Check the copy you will actually send
The result page reports the encoded format, dimensions and file size. Check the image at a useful viewing size, including areas near a crop or transparency boundary. If the destination rejects the output, read its format, pixel and byte limits separately; reducing a DPI label will not make an oversized pixel grid smaller.
For animation, unusual colour profiles or a file that cannot be decoded safely, follow the specific unsupported-file message. Do not replace an original with a failed or incomplete conversion.
Frequently asked questions
Will conversion reduce the file size?
It depends on the source, output format and quality setting. Compare the actual output size rather than assuming every conversion makes a smaller file.
What happens to a transparent image converted to JPEG?
JPEG does not support transparency. This converter uses a white background for transparent areas.
Does format conversion preserve every metadata field?
Do not assume that it does. Re-encoding and changing containers can alter or remove metadata. Inspect the exported file if orientation, colour or provenance matters.
Is this the same as changing DPI?
No. Format conversion changes the encoding/container. Use DPI Converter for a density-only change.
